Our History
Pastor O.L. Cromwell, Sr.
In 1975 a few people, filled with a burning desire, a steadfast conviction, and Christian commitment, stepped out on faith and acted upon God’s authority to establish this Church. Dr. O.L. Cromwell, Sr., a conscientious understudy of the Great Shepherd, became the Pastor, accepting the challenge of furthering God’s work with faithful members.
On September 14, 1975, “John The Baptist Mission Of Faith” held its first service at Swanson Homes Recreation Center located in Portsmouth, Virginia. Sharon Baptist Association of Virginia recognized the Mission as a church on February 8, 1976.
The mission, now known as the “Faith Diamond” was then officially named Trinity Baptist Church. One year later, on August 29, 1976, Dr. O.L. Cromwell, Sr., officials, congregation, and friends entered the new sanctuary… Trinity Baptist Church, located at 500 Marlboro Street, Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Cromwell, Sr. entered into eternal rest to claim his crown on May 7, 1989.

On May 14, 1989, the overarching providence of Almighty God provided another shepherd for His people. Dr. O.L. Cromwell, II accepted the challenge and became the pastor of this church. He was armed with robust response to God’s call, a steadfast conviction, and sincere desire to ensure that his father’s vision would become a reality.
On the fourth Sunday in September 1994 we marched into our New Church Sanctuary. Our latest addition, Trinity Faith Diamond’s new Family Life Center, is a million dollar, 18,200 square-foot facility with a college regulation size basketball court, a volleyball court, a 30-by-40 foot swimming pool, exercise and weight rooms, locker rooms, computer lab, class and game rooms, and a commercial size kitchen. The building, completed in May 2000, was named after Dr. O.L. Cromwell, Sr.
Pastor O.L. Cromwell, III
On the fourth Sunday in September 2007, God put into position the next generation of leadership as Pastor O.L. Cromwell III, better known as Pastor OJ, was licensed to preach the gospel. Pastor OJ was ordained as Youth Pastor on April 18, 2008.

We are currently in the process of erecting a new multi-million dollar state of the art sanctuary that will allow us to continue to win the lost, build the believer, and equip the worker in a more robust way.
